2025…

6th September 2025

Hello my most beautiful and precious starshine,

How are you my lovely? I hope you’re keeping really well and not feeling too exhausted. I hope you’re enjoying a very beautiful, relaxing and sunny day, with lots of wonderful treats {} xxx

I’m resting properly today. The crash is helping. It’s 17.17. I’ve just watched the BBC’s 1954 adaptation of 1984 for the first time. I read the book decades ago. Revisiting it today hit quite hard. I know it’s always been here to a greater or lesser extent, but the parallels with what’s happening at the moment are quite stark.

Along with the horrors in Gaza, it’s terrifying to see the rapid changes in the US, and inconsolable to know the same will happen here if Reform gets into government. It does feel very bleak. We’ll see the full effects of the changes in the US by 2027. The aftermath might be an indicator of who’ll be in government here.

What I found interesting was the warning that was issued by the BBC before the play  was aired, about how shocking it is to see man’s inhumanity to the spirit of man. He said how the most alarming thing about the play is that there’s no hope, but asked us to find that hope within ourselves.

After watching 1984, the thing that gave me hope is that despite it feeling as though humanity has gone, it hasn’t. It’s still here. The play reminded me that it’s in our ability to feel, to love, have friendships, show compassion and kindness, feel joy, to question and to feel alive. This does give me hope. We really do need hope don’t we?!! It keeps us going.

It’s 18.08, I imagine you’ve started your fabulous music party. I’ve just put it on and Land of Hunger by The Earons is playing. I’ve never heard it before but it feels very apt. I’ll join you for a little bit {} xx

Stuart Maconie just said that Land of Hunger was released in 1984. How’s that for timing? Magic!!

It’s 18.18. I almost forgot, I’m amazed that there’s a much earlier version of Misirlou by Tetos Dimitriades. It’s beautiful. Naturally, I had to revisit Dick Dales cool version as well.

It’s been wonderful to join your party for a little bit. Continue having tons of fun listening, and playing your gorgeous heart out, for me too {} xxx

Enjoy the most fabulous, exciting, delicious and restful evening my precious sweetheart. I’m hugging you super tightly. Hug, hug. Kiss, kiss. I love you. It’s 18.34 {} xxxx
